 Decompression Diver

Description: This course provides Recreational Divers the ability to perform limited decompression dives (15 minutes or less) within recreational depths using recreational gear.

This is a three-day course. Day one is a gear workshop, academic review and shallow water (this can be done locally at Three Oaks Recreational Area) training day. Days 2 and 3 are open water training days. These can be done locally at Three Oaks Recreational Area.

Prerequisites: 16 years old, 24 dives, Deep Diver and Enrich Air Nitrox 40.

Cost: $350

Extended Range Foundations

Description: This course provides an introduction to technical dive skills that are used in later Extended Range Courses. This course can also be used as a skill refresher for technical divers that need a refresher. This is recommended for divers diving back mount. For side mount divers, refer to the Extended Range Side Mount course.

This is a two-day course held in shallow water (this can be done locally at Three Oaks Recreational Area)

Prerequisites: 16 years old, 24 dives, Open Water Diver or higher.

Cost: $300

Extended Range Side Mount

Description: This course provides an introduction to side mount technical dive skills that are used in later Extended Range Courses.

This is a three-day course. Day one is a gear workshop, academic review and shallow water (this can be done locally at Three Oaks Recreational Area) training day. Days 2 and 3 are open water training days. at Three Oaks Recreational Area

Prerequisites: 16 years old, 24 dives, Open Water Diver or higher (Recreational Side mount Diver strongly recommended). Divers need a complete Extended Range Side mount Total Diving System.

Cost: $500 ($250 if an SSI Recreational Side mount Diver).

Extended Range Nitrox

Description: In this course divers learn to plan and execute limited decompression dives using either a complete Extended Range Total Diving system or a hybrid of recreational and extended range equipment and using up to 50% nitrox.

This is a three to four-day course. The first half of the course can be done locally, but the second half requires travel for training to one of the deeper quarries or a charter on the Lake Michigan to perform at least one dive below 115ft.

Prerequisites: 16 years old, 24 dives, Deep Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox 40. If using Side mount Recreational Side mount is required (Extended Range Side mount recommended). Extended Range Foundations is recommended for back mount twinset divers.

Equipment: Extended Range Twinset or Side mount Total Diving System, and 1 stage cylinder.

Cost: $600

Extended Range (with or without Trimix)

Description: This course provides divers the training to plan and execute decompression dives to a maximum of 145ft (45m) using up to 100% Oxygen for decompression.

This is a four-day course with four dives. The first half of the course can be done locally, but the second half requires travel for training to one of the deeper quarries or a charter on the Lake Michigan to perform at least one dive to 130ft.

This course can be done using either nitrox or trimix

Prerequisites: 18 years old, 50 dives, Deep Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox 40. If using Side mount Recreational Side mount is required. Extended Range Foundations is recommended for back mount twinset divers.

Equipment: Extended Range Twinset or Side mount Total Diving System, and 1 stage cylinder.

Cost: $600 (nitrox)/$800 (trimix). Divers who complete the Extended Range Nitrox course may receive credit at the discretion of the instructor.

Technical Extended Range (Nitrox or Trimix)

Description: This course provides divers the training to plan and execute decompression dives to a maximum of 165ft (50m) on Nitrox using up to 100% Oxygen for decompression. Completing the course using Trimix provides divers the training to plan and execute decompression dives to a maximum of 195ft (60m) on Normixic Trimix using up to 100% Oxygen for decompression.

This is a five-day course with six training dives. The first two days of the course can be done locally, but the rest requires travel for training to one of the deeper quarries or a charter on the Lake Michigan to perform at least one dive to 150ft (nitrox) or 180ft (trimix).

This course can be done using either nitrox or trimix

Prerequisites: 18 years old, 70 dives, 20 dives deeper than 100ft, 10 decompression dives. Either Extended Range, Full Cave or Technical Wreck certification (or equivalent). If using Side mount Recreational Side mount is required.

Equipment: Extended Range Twinset or Side mount Total Diving System, and 2 stage cylinders.

Cost: $650 (nitrox)/$1000 (trimix).

Extended Range Wreck

Description: This course provides an introduction to performing wreck diving using either a Twinset or Side mount Total Diving System to a maximum of 130ft and within the daylight zone.

This is a three-day course that requires four (4) wreck dives. Travel or charters will be required to meet these requirements.

Prerequisites: 16 years old, 24 dives, Enriched Air Nitrox40. Divers using a twinset require either Extended Range or Extended Range Foundations certifications. Divers using a side mount configuration require a Recreational Sidemount diving certification.

Equipment: Extended Range Twinset or Side mount Total Diving System; primary and back-up lights; one reel with a minimum of 150ft of line; a minimum of two (2) line arrows.

Cost: $450 plus charter fees (students are responsible for instructor charter fees).

Technical Wreck

Description: This course provides training to plan and conduct full wreck penetration dives using specialized technical wreck diving equipment within the decompression limits of the diver.

This is a four-day course that requires six (6) wreck dives. Travel or charters will be required to meet these requirements.

Prerequisites: 18 years old, 75 dives, either Extended Range Wreck or Extended Range Cavern. Divers using a twinset require an Extended Range certification. Divers using a side mount configuration require an Extended Range Sidemount diving certification.

Equipment: Extended Range Twinset or Side mount Total Diving System; primary and two back-up lights; three reels or spools (one reel with a minimum of 150ft of line); a minimum of three (3) line arrows and three (3) non-directional markers.

Cost: $600 plus charter fees (students are responsible for instructor charter fees. 


Note: Participation in an extended range course does not guarantee certification. Certifications will only be awarded if participants meet the certification requirements. Additional training may be required at a cost of $150 per day (nitrox courses) or $250 per day for trimix courses.

The costs of the diving gases is not included in the course fees.

Diving park and dive boat fees are not included in any of the course prices.

Participants in technical and extended range courses must own all of the required equipment for the course, no rental equipment is permitted.
