Pathway to Becoming an SSI Professional
If you are considering becoming an SSI Scuba Professional here are the courses you will need to take, assuming you are already Open Water certified. However courses are not the only requirement. You will have to have a minimum number of logged dives to complete the professional level courses. The minimum number to complete the course will be in parenthesis after the course title. Click on the course title for a full description of the course.
React Right course: This is a first aid, CPR, AED and oxygen provider course. The React Right course is scheduled on the 2nd Saturday of every month. Course fee, including training materials: $144.95.
Diver Stress and Rescue course: In this course you will learn to care for yourself as well as helping others. The Diver Stress and Rescue course is scheduled the last weekend of every month June to September. The course fee, including digital training materials: $274.95
Enriched Air Nitrox specialty course: You will learn to dive with oxygen content greater than 21% but less than 40%. The Enriched Air Nitrox course is scheduled on the first Saturday of each month. The course fee, including digital training materials: $129.95.
Navigation specialty course: You will learn to use a compass as well as underwater landmarks to guide you on a dive. The Navigation Specialty course is scheduled as needed, call for dates. The course fee, including digital training materials: $179.95
Deep Diver specialty course: You will learn to dive at depth greater than 60 feet but less than 130 feet. The Deep Diver Specialty course is scheduled as needed, call for dates. The course fee, including digital training materials: $234.95
Night/limited Visibility specialty course: You will learn the proper techniques to set up and execute a proper night/limited visibility dive. The Night/Limited Visibility Specialty course is scheduled as needed, call for dates. The course fee, including digital training materials: $179.95
Science of Diving specialty course: In this course you will learn about the physics, physiology, oceanography, decompression theory and total diving system, all associated with scuba diving. The Science of Diving Specialty course is scheduled as needed, call for dates. The course fee, including digital training materials: $164.95
Professional Level Courses
Dive Guide course: (50 logged dives) This is the first professional level course in which you will learn to guide divers on underwater tours. The Dive Guide course is scheduled as needed, call for dates. The course fee, including digital training materials: $662.00. The fee does not include $70.00 SSI registration fee. Purchase the Science of Diving and the Dive Guide course together and save $50.00.
Divemaster: After completing the courses listed above you will have earned the Divemaster recognition certification and will be able to assist an Instructor with scuba courses. This is a recognition card and there is no fee for reaching this level.
Assistant Instructor course: (75 logged dives) With this certification you will be able to teach certain scuba courses under the indirect supervision of an Instructor. The Assistant Instructor course is scheduled as needed, call for dates. The course fee, including digital training materials: $1099.00. The fee does not include the $70.00 SSI registration fee.
Open Water Scuba Instructor: (100 logged dives) With this certification you will be able to teach many different scuba courses. The Instructor course is scheduled as needed, call for dates. The course fee, including digital training materials: $1450.00. The fee does not include the Instructor Evaluation.
